What you want to know about yoga

Most people have so many questions when they  come to beach yoga that they don’t know where to begin. Here, we offer up some of the most common questions and answers.

You’ve heard it before, but really, there’s no such thing as a silly question. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible when you come to practice with us! So ask away


Where does the yoga class meet?

We meet right behind the lifeguard station on the beach at 3rd street.


I have never done yoga before. Can I attend?

Yes. Please let the teacher know that you are new to yoga.


What levels are the classes and what style?

Our teachers give a wonderful beach yoga class suited to all levels.


How long is the yoga class?

Classes are usually 60-90 minutes long, depending on the teacher. If you need to leave early or arrive late just let the teacher know if you can.


Is there parking?

There is street parking that is free before 9am. There are also parking lots around South Beach.


Do I need to bring a Yoga Mat?

We find that beach yoga is best experienced on a large beach towel. Some prefer to bring a sheet or blanket and also place a mat over that.


Do you provide or sell towels/mats?

No we do not. You must bring your own.


How much does it cost?

All of our classes are by donation. That means give what you like. Keep in mind a class at a yoga studio is usually around $15.


Is there class every day? Even on holidays?

We have class everyday. Even on the holidays.


What if it rains?

If it rains class is usually cancelled.


What if it is too cold?

We cancel class if the weather is below 55 degrees.


Do I need a reservation?

No reservations are needed. Just show up.


Is there a limit to how many students can attend?

There is no limit to the size of the class but if you are a large group it may be better to have a private session. Please contact us for more information at 3rdstreetbeachyoga@gmail.com

Are there hotels/hostels in the area?

Yes, there are many. A simple google search will show some close to our location.
